What is the Dry Skin collection?

This collection brings together the DOS products that restore moisture to dry and dehydrated skin: deeply hydrating day and night creams, hyaluronic acid serums, and nourishing botanical oils. Each one is built to do two things at once, replenish the water your skin is missing and repair the barrier that was letting it escape. They're suitable for every skin type, including oily and combination skin, because dryness is a condition rather than a permanent category.

Is my skin dry, or is it dehydrated?

Dry skin lacks oil. Dehydrated skin lacks water. They feel similar but they are not the same thing, and this is one of the most common reasons a routine stops working. Dry skin is a skin type: it produces less sebum and tends to feel rough or flaky year-round. Dehydration is a tendency, and any skin can have it. Oily skin is very often dehydrated, which is why adding a heavy cream can make things worse rather than better. At DOS we treat dehydration as one of three skin tendencies we diagnose, alongside oxidation and oiliness, so the products you're recommended match what your skin is actually missing.

What causes skin to become dry or dehydrated?

Most dryness comes from a barrier that isn't holding water in. Cold weather and indoor heating, low humidity, hot water, harsh cleansers and alcohol-based formulas all weaken that barrier. Age plays a role too. From around 30, natural collagen and elastin production begins to slow and skin holds moisture less easily, which is why many women notice dryness for the first time in their thirties even though nothing in their routine has changed. Stress and sleep affect it as well. The point is that hydration is rarely a matter of applying more product. It's a matter of repairing what's leaking.

Which ingredients does DOS use to hydrate the skin?

We work with botanical actives, meaning active ingredients derived from herbs rather than synthesised in a lab. Our Greek herbs come from the Olympus region, with mountain tea as our hero botanical. Around eleven of our herbs were analysed in Italy, and more than ninety of the 180 catalogued actives were found present, which means a single formula can carry a synergy of many actives rather than one registered ingredient. Alongside these we use hyaluronic acid for immediate water-binding, and rich butters and oils such as avocado and our manka butter, a blend of mango and carrot butter, for repair. All of it is carried by our own advanced absorption technology, developed in our lab, so the actives reach deeper layers of the skin rather than sitting on the surface.

Which product should I start with?

Take the skin test. It takes a few minutes and looks at five things: your skin type, your tendency, the current season, your age, and whether your skin is sensitive. From your answers we recommend a three-product starter kit rather than a shelf of options, because premium should be simple. Three well-chosen products will do more for dry skin than seven average ones. If you already know what you're looking for, every product page lists exactly who it's for, and every ingredient is published in full.

Does my hydration routine need to change with the seasons?

Yes, and this is central to how DOS works. Skin needs different things in different conditions, so the products change even when the underlying tendency doesn't. In summer, hydration often works best through a lightweight serum, because a rich cream in heat can leave skin feeling greasy and unbalanced. In winter, low temperatures and indoor heating push dehydration higher, and the skin responds better to gentle exfoliation followed by deeper hydration and a stronger night treatment. Winter is our regeneration window. Using the same cream all year is one of the most common reasons hydration stops working.

How long until I see a difference?

Most people see a visible difference within seven to ten days. That's by design, not by luck: it's what we formulate for, and it's the standard we hold ourselves to. Skin feeling more comfortable and less tight usually comes first, within days, followed by a smoother, plumper, more radiant look as the barrier rebuilds. Deeper concerns such as fine lines or pigmentation take longer and are addressed by different products in the protocol.
